Los Amigos de Codornices

Thanks to all those who made our first work party a great success.  We had about 20 people come out to mount an attack on an entire hillside of ivy.

On May 21st we are hoping to build on this success by pulling even more ivy and maybe setting our sights on some Scotch broom as well.

As always, the fun starts at 10am across the creek from the big slide and goes until noon.  Gloves, tarps, clippers and weed wrenches are welcome.  But all you really need is a desire to do some gardening!

Los Amigos are back at it in Cordonices Park.

To get the club off to a rolling start a work party has been scheduled for April 30th from 10am to 12noon.  Signs will point the way, but the general meeting area will be across the creek from the big slide.

All are welcome, that means everybody from toddlers to grandparents.  Some tools and water will be provided, but please bring rakes, clippers, tarps, weed pullers if you have any.  A strict dress code of work clothes and gardening gloves will be enforced.

We will be working to clear the area along the creek of the particularly aggressive non-native plants english ivy and scotch broom.  And here I thought we had gained independence from the UK 250 years ago!

In addition to working up a sweat, this will also be an opportunity to meet neighbors who share a love for the park and wish to make all of it a welcoming and useable space.

We can’t wait to pull some weeds with you all!
